After months of hard work, graft and horrendous weather the carping season finally got underway towards the end of March, much to everyone’s delight here at Eden’s Lakes!
With a little help from our friends we spent the winter preparing the three lakes for a summer of fishing by implementing a strict feeding programme, constructing new swim rebuilds on Simon’s Lake and ensuring all our lakes were of the same high standards as the North Lake. After weeks of hard graft Eden’s Lakes was ready for the new carping season, and what a start we have had…
After much anticipation the 2015 season got off to a steady start with James, Stu and Simon on the North Lake. Despite the dreadful weather the three lads had a cracking trip in the opening week! They endured gale force, chilly winds all week along with driving rain, but it was well worth it as they all achieved personal bests with fish up to 51lbs. We even discovered a new 50 pounder to add to the growing list of fish we already know about.
That same week we also welcomed our good friends Neil and his wife Coz who helped with a few jobs around the complex! In between jobs Neil made the most of the spare time he had by getting out onto the Simon’s Lake where he managed to catch a number of fish up to 35.12lbs.
Just two weeks into the carping season and all our hard work over the winter months had been rewarded as Jordan Hagger, from Danglers Nation, broke the North Lake record with an absolute whopper on the 10th April, cue the celebrations!
Jordan netted the well-known Split-tail at a new, recording breaking, weight of 60.04lb, almost two pounds heavier than the previous record. Over the last two years this beast of a fish has put on over 20lb in weight, solid proof that the winter feeding programme is working wonders here at Eden’s Lakes.
We were all absolutely delighted for Jordan who went on to bank another 5 solid fish. Throughout the week he was joined by Dave, Geoff and James, also of Danglers Nation, who all managed to bank decent fish up to 42.12lbs.
That same week we also welcomed the Moore family back to Eden’s Lakes this time on the Jolly Pads Lake. Dad Mike, mum Colette and children Bex and Dean had a steady week netting a respectable 37 fish throughout their trip.
Within weeks of our first ever 60lb+ fish we didn’t have to wait long for another to be banked! As anticipated the North Lake record was broken AGAIN on 7th May as Mark Cooper netted the Box Fish weighing an impressive 60.12lb. Yet again we were absolutely delighted with another 60lb+ fish and thrilled for Mark, what a beautiful catch it was!
But on another note that same week also saw Neil, who was fishing on the Jolly Pads Lake with friend John, cut his finger really badly which required immediate medical attention. After a 90 minute round trip and a 4-hour wait in A&E Neil’s finger was patched up, much to everyone’s relief!
Whilst Geoff had a tough week banking just two fish in his time at the complex during the week beginning 16th May it was a completely different story for Bill and Andy who both managed to smash their personal bests in spectacular fashion.
Bill left it late to bank a nice 40.08lb as he was packing up and Andy, who’d enjoyed a successful week on the North Lake, was delighted to land himself the Grey Italian weighing an impressive 59.00lb along with 12 other well-sized fish.
We could get used to this! During our guest tutorial week with Tom Maker in the week commencing 23rd May, Lewis Wood, who was fishing the North Lake, capped his first ever visit to Eden’s Lake with a fish he’ll never forget. Lewis netted the mighty Split-tail at a whopping 63.12lb, giving us our third record breaking catch in as many months!
The Tom Maker Tutorial Week was a huge success, he had some big shoes to fill following Adam Penning’s last three events, but he didn’t disappoint. Luckily all three lakes were fishing well throughout the week and with Tom’s expert advice and guidance a number of our clients achieved new personal bests, smashing their previous records! Tom was a real pleasure to work with and we look forward to welcoming him to Eden’s Lakes in the near future, whether it’s for business or pleasure!
Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for another record breaking catch, stay tuned! For live updates of everything that’s going on here at Eden’s Lakes make sure you keep a close eye on our Facebook page!
