Well what can I/We say …….what a great and busy 2013 season we have just had here at Edenslakes and its all thanks to YOU the customers and Friends that keep coming back to see us,so from us all at EDENS…. ” A BIG THANKYOU “….. and hope to see most of you again soon.
So to finish the year off i thought i would try and get out on the bank for my Birthday Bash again,,,,oh no have the medics on call you all say after last year when i nearly died and was rushed into hospital and having surgery and all that stuff blalalla and thats where i stayed for a few weeks and so after a slow recovery and a busy year lets get it on again with my best friend Neil and then at the end of the week Derek the Don Ritchie would be coming over again so i was looking at 3 weeks fishing solid then i was going away for 1 weeks holiday to another venue that a good friend of mine now owns so a month of fishing get it on as the don would say,.
So as the week leading into my birthday which was the 9th 0ct was looking great,not as warm as previous years but hey no suntans but fishing weather,Karen went to pick Neil and Corine up from the airport as there last trip was a disaster and ther jeep went bang and left it here for repair with all there gear,,but not a good start to the week as Karen took ill at the airport very quickly so big thanks to neil and cos for taking care of her and driving back home,now Karen does not get ill much and last time i saw her look as ill as when i helped her out the car she had just given birth to my 3rd son and then nearly died lol ,but lucklily it was just a 48hr bug ,but corine was a great help with picking my sons up from college that week and helping with dinners and karen which aloud me and neil to sort out and start setting up base camp .so enough of all that fillet steak , stew/dumplings and kfc stuff now lets get the fishing part and pics going………
Myself and Neil decided to set up in the middle of the lake in the large double to cover the whole of the lake,Neil on the left and me (Dene) on the right
The first night we didnt really fish as by the time we had sorted everything out and dinner and my kids and karen we decided to have a fresh go first thing in the morning which would be the saturday.,but bingo i started off with a awesome 39.00lb mirror,what a start and most welcome as the rain started to fall and was forecast for most of the week and heavy at times.Rbaited rod and put back and a few hrs later the rod went again with a beauty of a 37.08lb mirror,
The weather really turned on us with storms and torrential rain and when eased up a drop in temps and thick rolling fog,but on the 4th day in just as evening fell what happenened for neil was unreal,i had lost two fish due to a trailing line and another cut off so i was licking my wounds rather badly to be honest but NEIL had a nice steady take and hit into a solid fish,as usual a lot of guys i know say i dont think its that big ermmmmmmmmmmmmmm well seeeeeeeeeee ,so after a steady fight of 25 mins maybe a bit longer or so i slid the net under a fish i recognised as plain jayne ,when i told neil he couldn’t believe it,so we let her rest for 5 mins whislt sorting ourselves out and as we lfted her onto the tripod and the scales went round to 56.00lb not only was i over the moon but Neil was in a state of shock.so on with the pics,bearing in mind…… 56lb…… is like lifting a sack of spuds at dead weight poor neil has a damaged shoulder also so we did as much as we could to get the best shot the a short space of time,and fair play to him he even jumped in the freezing water ( did save another several buckets lol) as this was his fist 50 and smashing his pb again so well done buddy and has set a lake record for this year,was hoping to see a few more of the A LIST FISH but they didn’t grace our nets this time so we shall let someone else catch them and set some records,we are hoping to have a couple of fish near the 60lb mark by the opening of the season if the winter is kind and my feeding program can keep going strong through the closed season.

HAAAAAAAA wishing for a birthday beastie and i was rewarded with a stonking 42.00lb mirror big set of shoulders. this certainly made my day aswell as spending time on the bank with family and friends eating cake and a little tipple or 3 lol ,was a great day thanks guys. and neil also had a 32.00lb mirror
now the 10th neil started well with a 34.08lb mirror and a 30.00lb mirror and then that was the final fish of mine and neils session b4 derek arrived,so thanks buddy for a great week and celebrating my birthday and at least you didn’t have to save my life this year but made up for it in catching jayne at 56.00lb ,see ya next year
well as you gathered i stayed out and Derek the Don Ritchie and his wife Bev arrived and the weather never really improved to be honest rain ,rain and more rain,,to be honest we were bivvy locked the fishing was getting harder as the amount of water flushing through was immense,we had a few mishaps with lost fish again finding trailing lines/lost rigs which did cost us fish but we did recover a couple also,hower derek managed to catch a 22.00lb koi we didnt take any pics as it was teaming down at the time and only being a small ornamental one we let it straight back however I did manage a few out though a 33.00lb mirror beauty that was ,40.08lb mirror,36.00lb mirror,26.08lb apple slice mirror,and a powerhouse 38.08lb mirror,was going so well but the weather just killed us off in the end i feel and a great time with Del and Bev all the same.maybe your year next year Del.
SO THATS IT GUYS AND GIRLS A GREAT YEAR HAS COME TO A END WHERE MANY P/BESTS HAVE BEEN BROKEN YET AGAIN AND I’M SURE WILL BE AGAIN,SO I WILL NO DOUBT HAVE A FEW MORE DABBLES AND MAYBE GET KAREN OUT DOING A DAY OR TWO FISHING AGAIN,SO HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN IN 2014 AND IF YOU HAVE NOT BOOKED YET GET BOOKING !
