What can I say except this weather is diabolical, no steady settled fronts for us, just as it looks like it’s going to be fine and settled it changes and for this week WELL the torrential rain and gale force winds have hit us all hard. Lucky for most of the guys they managed to set up before it hit, but for most of the week the weather front stayed with us.
We had Theis from Denmark on a 5 day stint on Jolly Pads, also we had Phil on a short 5 day on the North Lake fishing with Dave and his partner but due to the bad weather decided to also leave earlier than expected however they both caught a decent fish each and Phil with a new p/best 40.12lb mirror and Dave with a 39.13lb mirror. Meanwhile Theis on Jolly Pads was only fishing the days on Jolly Pads ended with 13 fish to 29.00lb which he was very delighted with and we was also happy for him considering the bad weather that all the guys were fishing in. We also had 3 great guys Scott, Tristan and Nick fishing Simon’s Lake and were also getting battered and only managed a 37.02lb mirror which was a p/best for Scott.
With the guys leaving on the Wednesday from the North Lake Scott and the lads asked if they could finish the week on the North Lake as they did not have much to lose,I did not have a problem with that so after breakfast everyone braved the elements and revamped setting camp on the North Lake in some serious gale force winds and rain. After a few hours of being settled in I went up to help the lads choose the spots and get baited up which was fun with the bait boats full of particle and pellets in the wind but we got to the spots that I thought would be good to start on, and bingo after 2 hours one of Tristams rods had a right twitchy take and after hitting it over went the rod and he was into his first North Lake fish, after a nice battle the net was slipped under a nice 46.04lb mirror which proved to be the only fish for the remainder of the week for the guys in some of the worst weather we have had this year but fair play they kept working at it till the last morning. So well done to all this week that was out in the tough conditions. I know i would not like to be out fishing in it as it was bad enough having the odd walk around at times if I could even get out the front door lol, was not good for the social chats this week either which is a shame.
Overall the last several weeks have been fishing hard on a couple of the lakes so just hoping for the remainder of the weeks we have left of the season picks up for those that are due out, and the weather sorts itself out as well and becomes settled as we could do with some big hits of fish from all 3 lakes.
